Different Types Of Sailing yachts

Going yachting on a sailing yacht is something that will mean experiencing the true pleasure of yachting and it is an ideal choice if you happen to be adventurous and want to experience the entire range of sailing activities. No doubt, the sailing yacht is going to be slower, but it is nevertheless much more economical. However, you must put up with limitations to space as well as fewer amenities. It is also common to find that the sailing yacht has different overall length that can range from six meters to more than thirty meters, and at its biggest, it sometimes becomes hard to differentiate a sailing yacht from a ship.

The privately owned sailing yacht is generally of a size, in which the length should fall between seven meters and fourteen meters, and costs of these sailing boats are generally dependent on the length; so, you can choose one that fits in with your budget when considering buying one.

Day, Weekender, Cruising And Racing Yachts

It is normal to categorize the sailing boat into day, weekender, cruising and racing yachts. Day sailing yachts are usually less than six meters and are often even referred to as dinghies and generally will not even have a cabin and are used mainly for hourly or daily usage. The weekender yachts are about nine to ten meters in length and can work in shallow waters and are generally used to take short journeys that usually do not last more than a couple of days or so, and they have a cabin as well as bedspace for a couple of people.

The cruising yachts or cruisers as they are also known as are the most common type of sailing yacht and are of between seven and fourteen meters in length, and are quite complex in their design. They are ideally suited for being used as family vessels and can have more than one room below the deck with three double-berth cabins and a single large sized saloon as well as a toilet/shower room.

A different type of sailing yacht is the racing yacht that has as little wetted surface as possible and which can reach speeds of as high as forty miles per hour in good conditions. These sailing yachts sacrifice on comfort and are made for speed and thus have only basic accommodation. The ocean racing yachts are those that have exceptional sea-handling capabilities since they need to keep up good speeds in all conditions except of course very heavy and rough weather.
