The Mediterranean and Caribbean Seas are the most common bodies of water for yachting in the world for people who live in Europe and North America. It is not unusual to see hundreds of yachts at one time moored in these areas of the world. There are several organizations which help govern the yachting industry. The Mediterranean Yacht Broker’s Association (MYBA) is the organization in Europe that helps to govern the industry in Europe, and the Yacht Broker’s Association of America (YBAA) is the American equivalent. There is also The International Yacht Council. This council is a worldwide coalition of professional yacht broker associations. The members include six member associations of the Mediterranean, Florida, California, British Columbia and Northwest Yacht Brokers. The Yacht Brokers Association of America also belongs to this coalition. Researching these different associations in the locations in which you will be sailing your yacht will provide a helpful insight into the type of yacht you might need.
