Yacht Charter Provides Unique Vacation Opportunity
Spending time guiding your own trip through coastal waters can make an exciting vacation and those considering a yacht charter can plan their own stops along the way. Typically, there are three types of charter, the bare boat, skippered or crewed, and depending on the size of the vessel, the cost of a yacht charter can vary widely.
With a bar boat charter, the rental is for the boat alone, and should be for those with extensive experience at sea. Whether sail or powered, the persons on the yacht charter will be responsible for all aspects of getting the vessel through all responsibilities. For smaller vessels, a crew of two may be sufficient, however larger yachts may require a large number of crew to operated the yacht charter effectively and safely.
There are numerous corporations that hire a crewed yacht charter as a reward for employee performance or for meetings in a non-threatening environment. Some corporations also use them for team building by chartering the yacht with only a captain and their employees work as the ship’s crew. Although most yachts are made for extended stays at sea, corporate charters usually last only two or three days.
Like Ownership, Charters Not Cheap
Depending on the type of yacht charter chosen and the size of the ship, costs can run from $1,000 to $25,000 per person, per day. This will not be an inexpensive vacation, but it may be a truly memorable one. The more expensive services will be those of a larger vessel with a captain and crew of up to 30 to 50 people that are onboard to take care of every wish of the passengers.
There may be some requirements as to how many crewmembers are hired due to the size of the yacht and the experience level of the person in command of the yacht charter. It would not be practical to hire a large crew for a weekend jaunt with a yacht of 30 to 50 feet, nor would chartering a 450-foot yacht with only a skipper if no one in the party knows the first thing about seamanship. The charter company will also have its own requirements concerning staffing of the vessel.
A yacht is often seen as a symbol of privilege and power reserved for the wealthy and a yacht charter can give persons a temporary feeling of luxury without the expense of ownership. They can also be viewed as taking a trip on a cruise ship for which the person chartering the vessel is determining the destination and any stops along the way.
